College Station ISD Opens Pecan Trail Intermediate School

College Station, TX - VLK Architects is excited to announce the opening of College Station ISD's newest intermediate school, Pecan Trail Intermediate. Approved by voters in 2015, Pecan Trail Intermediate is the district's third intermediate school. Over a 20 year relationship with College Station ISD, VLK Architects has designed notable projects such as the campus-wide renovations and additions to A&M Consolidated High School, Cypress Grove Intermediate, Forest Ridge Elementary, College View High, and most recently, Spring Creek Elementary.

"Pecan Trail Intermediate provides teachers and students with collaborative environments that bridge all levels of learning," stated Ken Hutchens, VLK Architects, Principal of Creative.

Adjacent to Greens Prairie Elementary School, the design features neighborhood learning communities, each with its own collaboration space, computer lab, and professional learning studio. Utilizing the neighborhood learning community concept allowed for introduction of natural light to support student achievement. Public spaces like the gymnasium and cafetorium were designed for use by various community groups in a secure environment during non- school hours.

Jon Hall, Executive Director of Facilities at College Station ISD stated, "We are very excited to be opening the beautiful new Pecan Trail Intermediate School! The facilities are incredible and will provide our students and staff with an amazing and collaborative learning environment. This is a school our district and community can take great pride in and we look forward to it being a place where students grow, learn, and feel valued."
