Timber Creek High School

Keller Independent School District - Fort Worth, TX

Light is the theme in this 2,500-student high school. Classroom wings, the library, and art studios are all oriented to receive north light. Back of house spaces such as the kitchen, locker rooms, mechanical rooms, and scenery shop occupy the western edge of the plan, protecting the occupants from the harsh west sun. A large bio-swale along the south and east edge of the parking lot filters the rainwater collected from the roof and site and delivers it to a large pond at the front of the building. This pond is used to irrigate the entire site.
